“Jamie was so informative and kind when we met to discuss our options for mosaic embryos. Just like every other member of our team - simply the best!”

“Genetic testing saved us from even more heartache. It gave us vital information about our own genetics and how best to move forward, given that one of us has a genetic disorder we want to protect our future child from inheriting.”

The Role of Genetic Counseling

As genetic testing becomes more advanced and accessible, fertility patients increasingly seek expert guidance to better understand their results and make informed decisions about their family-building options.

At Illume, our highly-skilled genetic counselors gather comprehensive personal and family health histories, identify conditions with genetic components, explain patterns of inheritance, and outline available genetic testing options.

After testing, our counselors provide non-directive counseling—supporting each patient with clear, compassionate information as they navigate their next steps.

Many of the patients our genetic counselors support are utilizing donor sperm, donor eggs, or donor embryos as part of their fertility journey. In these cases, understanding the genetic makeup of both the intended parent(s) and the donor is critical to identifying potential heritable risks and ensuring the best possible outcome for future children.
