Did you know that Illume Fertility has a dedicated program created just for LGBTQ+ patients called Gay Parents To Be? Read on to learn more about why we created this special resource, what our Gay Parents To Be program offers, its special connection to our Medical Director, Dr. Mark Leondires, and more.
Over the past few years, you may have seen the topic of surrogacy popping up more frequently in the news. Some celebrity names might come to mind when you think of surrogacy - Kim Kardashian, Andy Cohen, and Anderson Cooper, to name a few. Here at RMA of Connecticut, we have been helping intended parents build families using gestational surrogacy for years, and we’re so happy to see it become a more relevant parenting pathway for all.
The highly personal journey to parenthood looks different for everyone. And sometimes, that pathway involves a fertility clinic. After choosing the fertility clinic that is right for you, you and your team will sit down together and devise a plan. At Illume Fertility, we feel it is our job is to help you navigate your options and collectively determine the best plan to achieve your personal family goals. One of the ways in which we can help you build a family is through surrogacy. We’ve helped many people reach their dreams of parenthood that way, and while it might not be how you envisioned having a child (let’s face it – using a fertility clinic at all is not how you anticipated any of this going!), it is a wonderful option for many people.
One of the most beautiful parts about family-building is that no two stories are exactly the same. There are so many different paths to parenthood: IVF, surrogacy, adoption, egg/sperm donors, IUI, embryo donors...the list goes on. Here at Illume Fertility, we are proud to offer family-building options for all. With the support of resources like our Gay Parents To Be program and our expert third party reproduction team, we know all of our patients are in great hands as they navigate their own unique path. Nothing brings us more joy than seeing the families we've helped thriving and enjoying life together. Two of our LGBTQ+ parents, Tim and Steve, shared their amazing story with us - from how they met, to how (and when) they decided to have kids, to their surrogacy experiences and beyond. We're so grateful to them for opening up to our community, and we're excited to share their journey with you. Let's start at the very beginning! Read on to hear their story in Tim's own words.
